It all began with an idea.
“Has Anyone Seen My Life?” was born out of numerous conversations between creator Dale Baron and a long-distance friend during the onset of the pandemic. They laughed, and sometimes they cried.
As a songwriter and playwright, Dale created songs around their real and imagined experiences. Along the way, Dale met Alex Baker, a talented musician, composer, arranger, and University of North Carolina (UNC) graduate. The duo teamed up to bring the story to life where it made its debut at UNC-Chapel Hill, performed by the Pauper Players in April 2022. It was hailed as an original musical, winning the award for Best Direction for a New Work.
“Has Anyone Seen My Life?” is at its heart an optimistic show about resilience, hope, and the power of community in the face of tragedy. As we settle into our new normal, we look back to the early days of the pandemic as a stark reminder of how far we have come, and all the ways that people have supported each other through unprecedented times.
